Stefano Rainieri

About

Hi, I’m Stefano. I design, and I lead designers.

I’m a Design Leader at Spindox in Milan. Over the past ten-plus years I’ve moved from designing interfaces to shaping how they get decided: leading multidisciplinary teams, defining customer experience strategy, and using Design Thinking as an operating method rather than a workshop format.

My background is unusual in one useful way. I came up close to the code: I’ve built and maintained front-ends, worked inside publishing platforms for newspapers and financial institutions, and shipped alongside engineers. That makes me a cheaper designer to work with, because I know which of my ideas are expensive and I can say so before the estimate arrives.

What I care about now is scale: design that holds up across a portfolio of products, a team that can argue about it productively, and evidence that the work moved something. I’m looking for leadership roles (Head of Design, Head of Digital, Customer Experience Lead) where that kind of impact is the actual mandate.

Outside the brief: I read too much about type, I still sketch in pencil on squared paper, and I keep my certificates current because the field moves and I’d rather not bluff.
